Central Park Invitational – Huntington Beach Central Park, Calif. – October 6, 2012 by SteveU BOYS D1: US#4 Cibola AZ sr Bernie Montoya stayed unbeaten with a 14:39.7 victory over 3M in the Boys D1 Varsity race. Villa Park jr Garrett Corcoran was a solitary second in 15:14.30. CA#7 Saugus won the team battle with 52 to Westlake’s 87. GIRLS D1: Centennial NV jr Sydney Badger took top honors with a 17:14.85, but US#4/CA#1 Saugus dominated on the team side, taking 4 of the top 8 and packing all of its scorers in the top 11 to complete a sweep. They scored 33 to runner-up Dana Hills’ 82, averaging 18:12.84. Soph Samantha Ortega led that effort in 2nd with 17:19.01. Centennial jr Katie Gorczyca was third in 17:51.53 as the 1-3 finish helped the Nevada power to 3rd with 121. D2 Races: South Torrance soph Kimberly Coscia won the girls race in 17:41.71, while Mayfield’s pack won the team race with 42. South Torrance also got the boys individual win with sr James Redmond running 15:41.52 and Covina scored 58 to roll to the team title. |
